About me

I'm a trauma-informed therapist with over twenty years of experience working in primary, secondary, and voluntary mental health services. I currently specialise in complex trauma related to rape and sexual violence.

My therapeutic philosophy centres around the importance of collaboration as part of the therapeutic relationship, providing individuals with a secure foundation from which to explore, grow, and develop their sense of self and their place within the world.

I am a current BABCP member, membership number 160639, and adhere to their standards of conduct, performance and ethics.

Why choose me?

My work with survivors has highlighted the injustices people face in accessing traditional mental health services. Whether this be due to waiting times, limited duration of therapy, inexperienced therapists, or prescriptive diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, the outcome for many is frustration and ineffective treatment.

When we talk about trauma, rape, and sexual violence, we also need to talk about the various systems and environmental factors that disempower people. Understanding the context in which violence plays out enables us to develop effective strategies and harness our power.

Taking an active role within the local community, my background as a social scientist working in health and social care settings, volunteering in refuges in India, and working within multi-cultural urban and inner-city demographics have all aided my understanding of people’s problems, regardless of their background or environment.
