What I Work With
Mental ill-health is as individual as you are. Some of the areas I can offer support in are....
Anxiety
Since the pandemic, anxiety has been on the increase. We hold anxiety throughout our bodies. It permeates our thoughts and can debilitate us. Working together, we can start to understand how anxiety impacts us and formulate strategies to help manage the intense knots that form within us.
Self-Esteem
How we feel about ourselves can encompass a range of things, such as our identity, self-confidence, sense of belonging and how we navigate the world around us. Our intrinsic needs can be overlooked as we judge and compare ourselves to others online and in the world. We can explore your sense of self and identity in a safe and non-judgmental space.
Depression
The looming dark cloud of depression can feel all-consuming like you’re trying to battle through life constantly. It impacts our relationships with others and ourselves. Working together, we can uncover the patterns and systems that entrap us in depressive cycles and how we can navigate these.
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma permeates all aspects of our lives. Its impact is felt within our bodies, thoughts and emotions. Sensory reminders, flashbacks and anniversaries can trigger our ‘alarm’ systems. As a trauma-informed practitioner, I have years of experience working with survivors, and I recognise the importance of listening to your narrative without judgment and working at your pace as you navigate the difficulties you are experiencing.
Pain Management
I work with pain management from a psychological and environmental perspective, exploring the barriers present in society to stop us from moving freely within it. I incorporate work around sleep, weight management, movement, relationships, and how we relate to our bodies. I welcome clients who are struggling with chronic, persistent pain.
Sleep
Do you ever find yourself awake at night, unable to sleep, doom scrolling, or restless with the inability to switch off? Sleep is important to our functioning. Without it, we cannot regulate our neural functioning or develop new neural pathways. Then, we can work together to understand the blockages to our restorative health. We can explore the internal and external factors that are barriers to our slumber systems.
OCD
More than feeling unordered or chaotic OCD can consume our thoughts and behaviours. Using NICE guideline approaches such as CBT and ERP (Exposure and Response Therapy), along with mindful techniques, to help with grounding and regulation we can focus on strategies to assist in how we manage this condition.
Psychosexual Functioning
My practice is sex-positive and judgement-free. I have worked with clients from the kink community, and I am currently training in psychosexual therapy. I welcome working with couples and individuals who are experiencing psychosexual difficulties. However you identify, we can work together around any issues that are impeding your sexual functioning, whether this be a breakdown in a sexual relationship(s), loss of desire, painful intercourse, erectile dysfunction or sexual identity.
Phobias
Phobias can be debilitating and stop you from doing the things that you want to do. Whether this be travelling (fear of flying, heights, etc.), attending a medical appointment (fear of hospitals, needles, blood, etc.), or something else, using NICE guidance and CBT techniques for gradual exposure, we can work towards habituating to your fears so you can start living your life.
